Queenstown is a world class wine producing region, and the Central Otago region is home to over 200 vineyards. Located close to Queenstown is the Gibbston Valley winery, known in particular for its award winning pinot noir.

Fishing options close to Queenstown include dry fly fishing, spinning and tolling, wading, float tubing and backcountry fly fishing.
